Hello and welcome...

My name is Telecus Diro and I am a scholar in the Great city of Selevis. I have always been fond of history. Luckily Selevis is one of the oldest cities still inhabited and I have access to lots of books. I have spent nearly a hundred years studying history. Even with all this time I still learn new things everyday. I have decided to write down the most important parts of history. I could not write all of the history I know due to the fact it would take me another hundred years, but its enough to help you get by and understand things a little. Before I go on to explaining about the major events that have happened on Telona let me first explain about the dating system.

The dating system was born around five hundred years ago. A gnome scholar named Willis Wonderst had traveled to the elven lands by the League to chronicle history. The elves didn’t have problems with the dwarfs and with the Dhemin empire at its highest the elves needed allies. So dates have LC or League calendar. The starting point of the calendar is taken from the end of the Stone wars.

-20 to 0 LC

It was in these times that are now referred to at the Stone wars. The stone wars were caused when a wizard had managed to steal the Spirit stone. The spirit stone was a very small stone that sat atop the highest peak in the Ingale Mountains. Before this time there was no divine magic. People suspected the gods but did not know much about them. At this time they had different names and people thought there were many more of them. When the wizard Agos took the stone the gods became angry and they sent Phiton to retrieve the stone. It was never determined what the stone purpose was. Some say it was the focal point for the gods others say it was where life was cycled. Phiton is the only recorded deity to ever come to Telona in the flesh. When Phiton defeated Agos  he then destroyed the spirit stone. This changed the lands drastically changed and it gave birth to new races. Before Phiton left he dispersed six books to the world. These scriptures each told of a deity.

0-600LC

These years were a time of turmoil. There were only Dwarves and elves before, now there were Orcs and dragons and humans and gnomes. Understanding the gods was also a major undertaking, for with these books also came divine power. The sick could be healed, the blind could see. It was a very exciting time.

900-999LC

I had to say that it was in these times I am ashamed to be an elf. The elves thought themselves to be the better race since they were one of the firsts and the dwarves protected these new races. They thought them to be treasures from the gods. A war then ensued. It almost lasted a hundred years and it solved nothing.

9,190-9,195LC

Even the Stone wars could not compete with the destruction of the events that would happen in these years. At this point druidic magic had become an everyday sight. It was become so used that it was even being taught in schools. It was abused so badly that it had even created new races. Elves had created Haflings and Centaurs and the Orcs had created Ogres and Goblins. It was being used to physically alter the land. The gods became angry and it was one goddess that dealt the blow. Vernisa the goddesses of nature decided to not only strip the druids of their powers she killed them all in one backlash. We refer to this as the war of Change. This devastated the Orcs and Elves. Vernisa then eliminated the druid magic, as we know it. Before it had been like arcane magic able to be manipulated, it now was like divine magic. It had to come through Vernisa herself. These new rules physically altered the land and sent technology back about four thousand years.

With the lands in chaos an unlikely race emerged to take hold of the world. The human, who had been nothing more then barbaric savages, had become more sophisticated. They created an empire and called it Dhemin. The Dhemin Empire would span most of the world.

The elves piecing together their lives had created a new nation and called it Selevia. This new nation still stands today. It used to be ran by a council of mages and druids, until recently.

In these years there were many minor wars between Selevia and Dhemin. In 9,576 the Dhemin Empire declared all Orc kind to be an abomination and then enslaved them. The Orc race would serve in slavery until their independence in 13,578LC

In over a thousand years the races were fairly quiet. The Dhemin Empire would occasionally start minor wars with its neighbors. Selevia was rebuilding, the humans were getting more sophisticated and the world had adjusted to the new magicks. There were two countries that were in trouble, the Ghomish country of Caldera and the Dwarven country of Xath. Both of them had been weakened with the constant skirmishes with the Empire. It did not help that dragons would randomly attack any country, so these two countries decided to merge. This is when the League was born. It was a shocking move to Selevia and Dhemin. What was even more shocking was the transition. It had gone so smoothly that it had even shocked its own rulers.

In the countries section it is explained how the country Cythalis came to be. I wanted to add some things to the story. Some people do not really understand the true story of Jonus and Marline. Jonus had been a knight and Calvary commander for the Dhemin Empire. He was considered a hero by most, due to the fact he managed to quell a rebellion that almost occurred within the empire. While traveling between cities he saw a woman being assaulted by Gnolls. He saved the woman and from there grew a relationship. Now he did not know she was a dragon for five years. They had gotten married, had a mansion built in the capitol. He had even risen to the rank of general. Marline had a terrible secret she couldn’t contain any longer. She was a gold dragon.

Jonus love for her was so strong he accepted it. She told him she was pregnant and had to go back to her people. He went with her. They say he was gone for seven years and he returned to see his family he was killed by a best friend. What stories do not tell you was that in the seven years he was gone Dhemin had lost a great general. People found out about Marline which raised the question had Jonus betrayed them? Tensions were rising and the rebellion that Jonus had stopped was coming again to the surface. When he returned and was killed Marline went mad and established Cythalis. The dragons had united and this actually saved the Dhemin Empire for awhile. Dhemin used the dragons as an excuse to keep the country together and it worked for along time.

The Dragon Wars they called it. It was more like a crusade towards a new country. After the establishment of Cythalis, the Dhemin Empire called on Selevia and the League to come together. From there old disputes were settled and the three countries hammered out the Alliance treaty. This treaty clearly stated that if Cythalis attacked any of the three countries the other would get involved. What Dhemin didn’t tell the other was that it had sent some troops in Cythalis border to incite a problem forcing Cythalis to attack. When the attack came troops were sent to borders and open war then happened. Nothing resulted from the four-year war. It was a stalemate. Cythalis lost in the end five miles of land. The reported casualties for the alliance were around thirty thousand. Not a lot considering an opened war. The problems mainly came from the alliance itself. There was just no communication with each other and eventually the war lost its flavor.

13,578-13,801LC

These years marked the end to the Dhemin Empire. It all started when the orcs grew tired of being slaves and openly revolted. Dhemin had been so full of internal conflict and corruption that it tried to keep its empire together but the orcs had so much determination and they new the Empires weaknesses that they managed to get their own country. They named it Mith Tardin. The name comes from the two that started the rebellion, Mithard and Tardinis.

The Empire further crumbled in 13,615LC, when part of the empire had succeeded. This new nation was called Azverdia. It later became known as the Azverdian Empire.

The Dhemin Empire had been split into two parts, the Northern and Southern Empires. They had to use ships to communicate with both sides. This eventually led the north to declare itself its own nation.

In 13,752LC the northern nation declared itself as Dhegus.  It was a strong blow to the Dhemin Empire and patriotism had fallen. This would eventually lead to a civil war an in 13,801LC the Dhemin Empire was no more. These last remnants became known as the Republic of Renius.

The current year is 13,833LC, but a few months ago Cythalis attacked the border of Mith Tardin. The League sent troops to their border and Cythalis stopped their attacks but a lot of the nations are keeping their eyes opened.
